The Story of Benny

The Spirit of Benny™ 5K Fun Run & Walk event is in memory of our son Benny who was a client of Partners in Care during the end stages of his life. Partners in Care was the only agency able to provide our family with information, access to services, and the strength and grace to survive such a tragedy. Since Benny, Partners in Care has been approached by many other families with ill children who also had no where else to turn.

Benny passed last year at the young age of 5 from Battens Disease and was passionate about life. He touched the lives of so many with his bear-strength hugs when he was healthier, to his sweet smile when he could no longer move or speak. Benny's spirit is powerful still and continues to inspire us to help other families with seriously ill children by supporting Partners in Care. About the Event

The Spirit of Benny™ 5K Fun Run & Walk is a 3 mile course. Participants will meet at the Expo Area at Louisiana Schnell School in Placerville and will walk to the start on the nearby El Dorado Bike Trail near the Schnell School Road entrance and will run up the trail for 1.5 miles and then run back down 1.5 miles. Please plan to arrive by 8:00am to pick up race bibs. Runners will start at 8:30 am and walkers will start at 8:45 am. The trail is scenic and woodsy. Awards will go to the top 3 runners. All participants will receive a free t-shirt and goody bag. We hope to provide fun for the whole family at the Expo Area including a few free treats :) Make a day of it, and check out Downtown Placerville, our local wineries and/or Apple Hill which are all only minutes away from the race!
